Foras na Gaeilge
Foras na Gaeilge was founded in 1999 under the British-Irish Agreement Act. Foras na Gaeilge is a cross-border governmental body whose aim and statutory responsibilty is the promotion of the Irish language in all sectors of society, North and South, and to this end Foras na Gaeilge has a wide range of functions. The development of lexicography in Irish is a specific responsibility of Foras na Gaeilge, and the NEID project is under the remit of the Directorate of Educational Services.

Seosamh Ó Murchú, Senior Editor, An Gúm
Seosamh has been Senior Editor of An Gúm since 1998 and is responsible for its publishing programme. He is a former editor of Comhar magazine and was joint editor of the annual publication Oghma. He was also one of the founders of Raidió na Life, the public radio station.
Pádraig Ó Mianáin, Lexicographical Editor
Pádraig was a member of the editorial teams of the Collins Gem Irish Dictionary and the Collins Pocket Irish Dictionary, and subsequently worked as a third level lecturer and lexicographical researcher.
Cathal Convery, Project Manager
Cathal has an M.A. in Translation Studies (Irish and French) and has many years of experience in managing projects in the field of Information Technology, both in Ireland and abroad.
Muiris Ó Raghallaigh, Eagarthóir Cúnta, An Gúm
Muiris is an Assistant Editor in An Gúm. He first became involved in the NEID project during Phase 1 in 2004. He taught Old Irish in Trinity College and later did an M.Phil Old Irish on Old Irish sources. Previously, he worked on a Classical Irish research project in Trinity College and on the Historical Dictionary of the Irish Language in the Royal Irish Academy.

Jo O’Donoghue: Corpus Development Officer
Jo is responsible for sourcing and preparing additional texts and other material for inclusion in The New Corpus for Ireland. Jo is well established in the publishing sector, having over twenty years’ experience as editor and publisher with various companies in Dublin. Her own publications include a critical work on the novelist Brian Moore and Brewer’s Dictionary of Irish Phrase and Fable (co-edited with Sean McMahon).
Lexicography MasterClass (LexMC)
Lexicography MasterClass (LexMC) is an internationally recognized lexicography company led by Sue Atkins, Adam Kilgarriff, and Michael Rundell. Collectively and individually, LexMC’s directors have very extensive experience in the production of dictionaries, and an outstanding record of innovation in the fields of lexicography and lexical computing. All three have been closely involved in the ‘corpus revolution’ that has transformed dictionary-making since the 1980s. They have all played leading roles in the planning and development of a range of groundbreaking and market-leading dictionaries, both bilingual and monolingual, and in 2008 they published The Oxford Guide to Practical Lexicography (Atkins & Rundell 2008). LexMC are the organizers of the annual ‘Lexicom’ lexicography workshop, and have given courses on lexicography in various locations in Ireland as part of the NEID project.
LexMC is responsible for designing, implementing and delivering a database of lexical entries for the project. The database records the findings of a detailed analysis of 50,000 English expressions, based on a 1.7 billion word corpus.

Sue Atkins
Sue Atkins has been a professional lexicographer since 1966: she was General Editor of Collins-Robert English-French Dictionaries, and later Lexicographic Adviser to Oxford University Press. She has given invited lectures and taught lexicography worldwide, and held consultancies with a number of prestigious research institutions. Sue has been awarded honorary D Litt degrees from the Universities of Brighton, UK, and Pretoria, South Africa, for her contribution to lexicography worldwide.
Michael Rundell
Michael Rundell has been a lexicographer for almost 25 years, working mainly on dictionaries of English for language learners. He has supervised numerous dictionary projects, most recently the Macmillan English Dictionary for Advanced Learners (2002), of which he is Editor-in-Chief. He has had a leading role in the design of English corpora, including the British National Corpus, and has taught courses in corpus-based lexicography for 10 years.
Adam Kilgarriff
Adam Kilgarriff is Director of Lexical Computing Ltd. which has developed the Sketch Engine, a leading tool for corpus research. His scientific interests lie at the intersection of computational linguistics, corpus linguistics, and dictionary-making. He has worked at Longman Dictionaries, Oxford University Press, and the University of Brighton, and is now Director of LexMC as well as Lexical Computing Ltd. See also www.kilgarriff.co.uk.
Valerie Grundy
Dr Valerie Grundy, Managing Editor of the project, is responsible for the work of the 18 lexicographers. She has been working in bilingual lexicography for the last 20 years. She was Joint Chief Editor of the Oxford Hachette French Dictionary (1994) and has since managed projects in a number of European languages, including the Oxford Pocket Irish Dictionary (2000). She has also run postgraduate seminars on lexicography at the universities of Lyon and Lille.
Diana Rawlinson
Diana Rawlinson is the Project Administrator, responsible for the management of the non-editorial aspects of the project. She has worked with LexMC since 2003.
Ingénierie Diffusion Multimédia SA (IDM)
Ingénierie Diffusion Multimédia SA (IDM) supplies and maintains the dictionary writing system used by the project (the Dictionary Production System, or DPS) . IDM has been providing software to the Editing and Publishing industry since it was founded in 1994, and its client base includes publishers of dictionaries, encyclopaedias, directories and catalogues, business suppliers and providers of financial services. Other publishers using its software include major dictionary publishers in the UK, Continental Europe, China and the USA.

Philippe Climent
Philippe Climent has a Masters Degree in Applied Maths and Computer Engineering. He worked as an Engineer in various positions in the French Administration and subsequently at France Telecom. He founded IDM in 1994 and manages the company since then.

The continuing development of The New Corpus for Ireland is being carried out in partnership with the Centre for Language and Communication Studies in Trinity College.

Elaine Uí Dhonnchadha
Elaine is a lecturer in Trinity College. She directed the marking and processing of material for The New Corpus for Ireland in Phase 1 of the project, and since 2008 she has overseen the task of adding more functions and texts to the Corpus. Previously, Elaine was a member of the Irish Linguistic Institute team that produced Corpas Náisiúnta na Gaeilge (The National Corpus of Irish) (2003).
Christoph Wendler
Christoph has an M.A. in linguistics from the University of Munich. He has experience in computer programming and in developing software in various computing languages and he has been working on the technical development of the Irish language corpus since the beginning of 2008.
Kevin Scannell
Kevin is the Director of Computer Science in the University of San Louis, Missouri. He has done extensive research in computational linguistics in various languages, and in Irish in particular. He has developed grammar and spellchecking programmes in Irish, and led the team that developed the Irish language version of Firefox. Kevin is collaborating with the NEID project in the area of processing and tagging texts so that non-standard or variant forms and spellings can be readily searched in the Corpus.
