Welcome to the website of the New English-Irish Dictionary (NEID), a modern bilingual dictionary containing c. 40,000 headwords to be published in both printed and electronic format. The NEID is a Foras na Gaeilge project, and is due for completion at the end of 2012.
Information can be found on this site about various aspects of the project, such as:
- its structure, phases and progress
- personnel and major partners
- associated linguistic corpora
- sample material from Phase 2A (English headwords)
- sample material from Phase 2B (Translation phase)
We also welcome the participation of the wider public in the project, and particularly the submission of language citations to supplement and enrich the body of lexicographical evidence on which the dictionary is based.
